Protection of Indian Breeds of Cows: India had more than 130 pure breeds of cows. The successive governments have significantly mismanaged cow breeding in our country. For various reasons, only 37 breeds are existing now. There is an urgent need to protect them and also to increase their strength for medicinal purposes, if not for religious purposes. Mutation took place for almost all breeds of cows in western countries.
